Stephen Barber

Stephen Barber's research interests include government, public policy and political economy. He teaches Public Policy in the Managerial Environment and Contemporary Issues on the MPA.

He holds a Masters degree in contemporary history and a PhD in the strategic behaviour of political parties. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, Member of the Chartered Securities and Investment Institute and a Member of the Chartered Management Institute. He is also a Senior Fellow of the Global Policy Institute.

Stephen is a regular television and radio commentator, discussing policy and economy issues on news channels such as Radio 4 Today Programme, 5 Live, BBC TV Breakfast and Al Jazeera. A frequent contributor to the financial press, he spent 15 years working in the City of London's investment industry before joining the university.

In addition to numerous articles, papers and reports, he has published four books: Political Strategy (2005), The City in Europe and the World (ed) (2005), The Geo-Politics of the City (ed) (2007), Greed (ed With A Brassey) (2009).
